Cheryl Hill MS, RD, LD received her Bachelor of Science degree from Freed-Hardeman University in 1991 and completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics in 1995 at The University of Alabama. She received her Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama in 1996. Cheryl has worked as a clinical dietitian with the DCH Healthcare Authority in Tuscaloosa and Northport, Beverly Healthcare in Oneonta, and at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. When it comes to health and nutrition, Cheryl has a wide range of experience. She has conducted in- and out-patient counseling on weight loss, disease prevention, healthy eating, and to patients with specialized diets. Cheryl has taught nutrition classes to patients with organ transplants, gastrointestinal diseases, and heart disease, and she has provided geriatric residents with ongoing nutritional assessments and care. Like many of her patients, Cheryl has also struggled with weight issues. She understands the importance of healthy living to maintaining a proper self-image. Cheryl and her husband live in Hoover, Alabama with their two daughters. She looks forward to helping you reach your health and wellness goals.
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Montevallo in 1996 and then completed her dietetic internship and Masters degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998. Seeing several family members battle a cancer diagnosis, Jennifer has always been very passionate about oncology and has spent a majority of her career in the oncology field. From working in the hospital as a dietitian, to applying oncology research in the pharmaceutical industry to running a cancer ministry and a cancer support group for the last 5 years; Jennifer is a big advocate of PREVENTION. She understands that dietary and lifestyle changes are Crucial to preventing disease. Jennifer, her husband and two children (ages 5 and 3) live in McKinney, Texas north of Dallas. Having been on a weight loss journey herself, Jennifer understands the difficulty of losing weight and taking care of yourself while juggling the many demands of being a wife and mom. Jessica-Lauren Roberts, MA, RD, LD received her Bachelor of Science in human nutrition and completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics in May 2008 at The University of Alabama. She went on to work as the registered dietitian and graduate assistant in fitness and research at the University's Student Recreation Center. She earned her Master of Arts in health studies focusing on health education and promotion in May 2010. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in nutrition with emphasis in exercise at Auburn University. She also works as the dietitian for students, faculty, and staff. Jessica-Lauren's experience as a health and wellness dietitian includes weight loss, weight gain, weight maintenance, family meal planning, grocery store tours, cooking, eating healthy on a college budget with convenience, pre-conception, eating disorders, breastfeeding and post-natal health, disease prevention, and special diets such as gluten-free or other allergies. She enjoys working in the college setting and speaking to residence halls, academic classes, and other campus groups to increase education and awareness. She believes in empowering individuals to make wise choices for themselves to improve their overall health. A happy and healthy life is about more than just calories! She enjoys helping her clients assess things for themselves and set realistic goals for a balanced lifestyle. Jessica-Lauren makes time to enjoy yoga, running, reading, cooking, travelling, God's great outdoors, and involvement in ministry and missions. She is currently training for her first half marathon!
Kristen McManus, BS, RD, LD is a recent graduate from the University of Alabama with a degree in Food and Nutrition. She completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics in December 2010 and recently received her certification in Adult Weight Management. She also plans to work towards a Masters in Community Health Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham starting in January. Kristen has experience working in clinical and community health settings. She believes that a healthy lifestyle can be achieved and is most effective through the combination of both a healthy diet and exercise. Kristen places a strong emphasis on prevention of chronic disease and is passionate about improving individuals’ health status though nutrition education and social media. Kristen is a self-proclaimed foodie and cooking enthusiast. She also enjoys running, working out, reading, photography, and traveling. Her favorite healthy foods include oatmeal, bananas, almond butter, grilled fish, sweet potatoes, spinach, Brussels sprouts, blueberries, and Greek yogurt. Kristen is currently living in her hometown of Birmingham, AL. She is a firm believer in balance and looks forward to helping you set realistic and achievable goals to improve your overall health. She wants to serve you as a Registered Dietitian that makes nutrition applicable and practical for every day life.
Melanie Rubery MS, RD, CLT, LD is passionate about helping individuals live a healthy life. Her experience spans 10 years of working with diabetic and cardiovascular patients. Melanie has worked with both adult and pediatric clients. Her hobbies include healthy cooking, running, and sewing. As the founder of Healthy Life and Nutrition, it is her goal to empower individuals with good eating and fitness habits, to be accountable, and live a healthy and productive life. Melanie looks forward to helping you reach your health and wellness goals.
Vasu Manimaran, MPH, RD, LD received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at Louisiana State University followed by a Master of Public Health degree and then dietetic internship from University of Alabama at Birmingham. As a Registered Dietitian, most of her experience is in Pediatrics but during her undergraduate degree, she was able to work with adult research studies involving weight loss and Diabetes prevention. She believes that a healthy diet is not just a short and sweet vacation but an overall lifestyle change, involving both nutrition and exercise. Her public health background leads her to believe that nutrition and lifestyle goals need to be based on a person's readiness to change and that prevention (of chronic diseases) is key.
